Kapil Sibal said something big in front of CJI Chandrachud and PM Modi! Know what he/she was hinting at


New Delhi : Senior advocate and Supreme Court Bar Association president Kapil Sibal stressed the importance of empowering trial courts, district courts and session courts to deliver justice without fear or bias. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two-day national conference of District Judiciary, Sibal said that these courts should not be seen as subordinates but as important components of the justice system. It is noteworthy that when Sibal was saying this, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and PM Narendra Modi were also present there.

‘District courts are not subordinate’

Sibal said in reference to district courts that they are not subordinate because they deliver justice. The judiciary at that level must have confidence that their decisions will not be construed against them and they represent the backbone of the justice delivery system. Sibal expressed concern about bail being granted in fewer cases at the district court level.

he/she said that in my career, I have rarely seen bail granted at that stage. This is not just my experience but the CJI has also said this because the High Court is burdened with cases. After all, bail in the lower court is an exception. Sibal said that freedom is the fundamental basis of a thriving democracy and any attempt to bend it affects the quality of our democracy.

PM Modi inaugurated it

Earlier, PM Modi inaugurated this national conference. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud also addressed this conference. The CJI also said that it is necessary to stop calling the district judiciary subordinate. Justice Chandrachud said that a citizen looking for justice first contacts the district judiciary. The district judiciary is an important component of the law. he/she said that the quality of work and the conditions in which the judiciary provides justice to the citizens determine whether they have faith in the judicial system or not.
