Kane Williamson also followed Bolt’s path, rejected the central contract, left the captaincy, what will New Zealand do now?


New Delhi. Kane Williamson has given such a blow to New Zealand cricket that it may take a long time to recover from it. Williamson has made it clear that he/she will not accept New Zealand Cricket’s central contract for the 2024-25 season. he/she has also given up the captaincy of the ODI and T20 team. Kane Williamson is included in the ‘Fab Four’ of modern cricket, which includes Virat Kohli, Joe Root and Steven Smith. Williamson is also the only captain to win the ICC trophy for New Zealand.

This decision of Kane Williamson has come after New Zealand did not qualify for the Super-8 of the T20 World Cup. New Zealand Cricket has accepted that Williamson has rejected the offer of a central contract. The board has said that Williamson does not want to take a central contract for the next season. But he/she has made it clear that he/she will be available for New Zealand for matches in all three formats.

This decision of Kane Williamson is being linked to Trent Bolt. Bolt, who recently announced his/her retirement, had left New Zealand’s contract two years ago. After this, he/she focused on playing in T20 and T10 league cricket of different countries. However, during this time, whenever New Zealand had to play any big series or ICC events, Bolt returned for his/her national duty.
