Kamal Haasan spoke bluntly on making political films, also spoke on corruption

The trailer of Kamal Haasan, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh starrer film ‘Hindustani 2’ was released on the evening of 25 June. It shows unemployment in the country and the poor law and order situation in the country. Now actor Kamal Haasan spoke to a portal in Mumbai during the trailer launch of this movie. And during this, he/she was asked about making such films that question the government in view of the current political environment. Along with this, it was also asked that those who ask such questions are often termed as ‘traitors’ and how is he/she able to make such films in this environment. Kamal Haasan answered the questions in a conversation with ‘Indian Express.com’. he/she said, ‘This problem has been there since the time of the British. People used to make films even then. We will keep making such films. It does not matter who is at the top of the power establishment.’ The actor also said that it is the right of citizens to question the government. ‘It is not just the right of the filmmaker. Rather, asking questions is the right of citizens.’

It is difficult to make political films – Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan further explained how actors face difficulties while making political films. ‘We, as actors, represent many people from the general public. And we also believe that we are your representatives. So we talk about issues boldly, without thinking about the consequences. It is difficult. The government may be angry but your support extinguishes that fire.’

What did Kamal Haasan say on corruption in the country?

Kamal Haasan played the role of Senapati in ‘Indian’. he/she fought against the corruption present in the country. And the same will be seen in ‘Indian 2’ which will be released in Hindi as ‘Hindustani 2’. The actor said during this, ‘Should I hate or thank? What have we done? It is us! The politician is none other than one of us. We are all responsible for corruption. And we all should change our mind. And the best time to change our mind is during elections. They only remind us how corrupt we have become. Nothing has changed because of corruption, if we all come together and use our conscience then everything will change.’

What did Kamal Haasan say on tolerance?

The tagline of ‘Indian 2’ is ‘Zero Tolerance’. When he/she was asked what are those things in the society which he/she finds difficult to tolerate, Kamal Haasan said, ‘I am a big fan of Gandhiji. he/she says that he/she has taught you tolerance. I say that I am not a fan of that tolerance business. Gandhiji is my hero. But whom do you tolerate, not a friend. I want friendship to grow in this world. What you tolerate is a headache. Whatever is a headache for the society, you should have zero tolerance for it. Find a medicine and end this headache.’
