‘Kader Khan will drown… the chandelier will fall…’ Nihalani reveals about Govinda

Filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani, who did many films with actor Govinda in the 1990s. But there was never any friendship between them. Pahlaj Nihalani had earlier also talked about his/her relationship with the actor. And once again he/she has mentioned many new things. he/she told that no one could guess what Govinda would do. he/she always took wrong decisions, due to which his/her career sank. he/she told that Govinda had become superstitious in the last few years. It was very risky to work with him/her, while he/she was at the peak of his/her career. he/she was doing well. In an interview given to YouTube channel ‘Friday Talkies’, filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani said that Govinda is a good actor. There is no match to his/her ability. he/she also praised the actor’s dedication to his/her family and his/her clean heart. But he/she also pointed out the reasons which he/she thinks led to the downfall of his/her career. The filmmaker said, ‘Govinda gradually became more superstitious. he/she was naive. he/she would say that the chandelier is going to fall on the set and ask everyone to move away. Then he/she would predict that Kader Khan is going to drown. he/she would ask people to change their clothes based on his/her superstition. he/she would refuse to do certain things on certain days. All this led to his/her downfall.’

Pahlaj Nihalani and Govinda could not become friends

Pahlaj Nihalani said that when he/she first met Govinda, he/she was not impressed by his/her looks. The next day, the actor came with a showreel, and claimed that he/she was also a great dancer. Pahlaj Nihalani said, ‘We never became friends, there was a relationship between us, but there was always uncertainty in working with him/her. he/she would sign dozens of B-grade and C-grade films without thinking. he/she would be working on five or six films at the same time, no one would know where he/she was. he/she would constantly come late. he/she would lie. Govinda said that he/she was doing all this for money. But I told him/her that the way he/she was thinking was dangerous.’

Govinda maintained a selfish relationship with Pahlaj Nihalani

Pahlaj Nihalani insisted that he/she and Govinda never became friends again. he/she said that Govinda always came to his/her door when he/she was going through a difficult phase in his/her career and not when he/she was a successful actor and at the peak of his/her career. ‘This industry runs on trust. When trust breaks… The relationship between an actor and a producer lasts only if there is trust. he/she did not form relationships with anyone.’ However, both of them worked together in the film ‘Rangeela Raja’ in 2019. However, since then, Govinda has hinted that a conspiracy is being hatched to suppress him/her in Bollywood.

Govinda was not offered James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’

Govinda once claimed in ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ that he/she was offered James Cameron’s movie ‘Avatar’. On this, Pahlaj Nihalani said, ‘I had made a film with him/her called Avatar. I had shot 40 minutes of it, which I consider one of my best films, but it was shelved. I don’t know what came to his/her mind with the title Avatar, later he/she kept claiming that I am doing the same (Hollywood) Avatar. The disc in his/her mind has turned. And it has gone from Hindi language to English.’
