Justice knows no prejudice, with its help even the weak can dominate the strong, why did SC say this


New Delhi : The Supreme Court, while hearing a land dispute on Friday, said that justice knows no prejudice and with its help even the weak can prevail over the strong. The apex court said that the power structure of our society is such that those who are weak often find themselves exploited and oppressed by those who have more power.

A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah said that land ownership is an area where we see the swords of power being sharpened with constant fraud, deceit and greed. These comments of the apex court came in a case related to a piece of land in Thane district of Maharashtra. While hearing the case, the court said that justice knows no prejudice and thus, with its help even the weak can dominate the strong.

The apex court said that though we will consider the facts of the present case in detail later, it is a stark example of the continued sufferings faced by the common man due to the malafide intentions of vendors who try to gain double advantage either by exerting pressure or by manipulating the legal processes.

It said that sometimes the misery of the litigant deepens when such travesty of justice continues for decades and in such cases the law comes to the aid of the weak.
