[ad_1] New Delhi : The Supreme Court Collegium on Thursday recommended the promotion of Justice JoyMalya Bagchi of the Calcutta High Court to promote in the apex court. According to the report, the collegium's proposal states that after his/her appointment as a judge of the apex court, Justice Bagchi will be in queue to take over as Chief Justice of India till his/her retirement on October 2, 2031.Terror will be 6 years oldJustice Bagchi will have a tenure of more than six years before assuming the post of Chief Justice of India. The collegium considered the fact that after the retired of Justice Altamas Kabir as Chief Justice of India on 18 July 2013, no Chief Justice of India came from the Calcutta High Court.Will be in the queue of CJIJustice KV on 25 May 2031 On retiring Vishwanathan, Justice Joymalya Bagchi will be in queue to take over as Chief Justice of India on 02 October 2031 till his/her retirement. Justice Bagchi will have a six -year term before taking the post of CJI. The collegium has also taken into account the fact that the bench of the Supreme Court is currently represented by the Judge of the Calcutta High Court. Justice Bagchi is at serial number 11 in all India seniority of judges of the High Court including Chief Justice.High court judge for more than 13 yearsJustice Joymalya Bagchi was appointed as a judge of the Calcutta High Court on 27 June 2011. On January 4, 2021, the Andhra Pradesh High Court was transferred. he/she was sent back to the Calcutta High Court on 8 November 2021 and has been working there since then. he/she has served as a High Court judge for more than 13 years.
