Anil Kumble created history in Tests on this day

Kumble did the feat in the Delhi Test between India and Pakistan
Anil Kumble Perfect 10: 20 years and 23 Tests… Yes, Pakistan was won after this many years. So she had to be special. On top of that, the Indian bowler took all 10 wickets in the innings. Now you must have remembered which bowler we should talk about. This feat was done by Anil Kumble, the most successful bowler in Indian Test history. That too on this day i.e. February 7 and the year was 1999. The Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) of Delhi had become a witness to this achievement of Kumble. Due to this strong performance of Anil Kumble, India had achieved parity after losing the first Test of the series in Chennai. Kumble took all 10 wickets for 74 runs.
Before Anil Kumble, England’s off-spinner Jim Laker had achieved the feat of taking all 10 wickets in an innings of Test. Jim did the feat of taking all 10 wickets (51.2-23-53-10) of the innings against Australia in 1956. After Laker, Kumble became the second bowler in Test history to do so. New Zealand spinner Ejaz Patel equaled the record of Anil Kumble and Jim Laker by taking 10 wickets in the Mumbai Test against India in 2021. Kumble took all 10 wickets in just 37 runs and gave India victory over Pakistan after 23 Tests.
Pakistan was defeated in the Delhi Test
Pakistan’s team came on a tour of India in 1999. Then after losing the Chennai Test, the second match was to be held in Delhi. In the Feroz Shah Kotla Test against Pakistan, India scored 252 runs in the first innings and bundled Pakistan out for 172. After this, on the basis of opener Sadagopan Ramesh (96), India scored 339 runs and gave a target of 420 runs to Pakistan. Pakistan also started strongly. The pair of Saeed Anwar and Shahid Afridi had added 100 runs in the first 25 overs. It seemed that the match would go out of India’s hands. But as soon as Shahid Afridi was dismissed, Anil Kumble stopped only after getting the full 10 wickets.
Srinath had sacrificed
When Kumble had taken 9 wickets, captain Mohammad Azharuddin asked Javagal Srinath, who was bowling from the other end, to bowl outside the off-stump, so that he would not get a wicket and Kumble could take the full 10 wickets. In this round, Srinath bowled wide several times. Well, Anil Kumble completed his 10 wickets by dismissing Wasim Akram and his name was recorded forever in the pages of history. Kumble also took 4 wickets in the first innings of that match. He became the player of the match with a total of 14 wickets.
Made a world record without playing even a single test, landed on the field in Nagpur, then understand that Australia’s glory!
Kumble bowled with a broken jaw
After 3 years, Kumble once again showed spirit when he came down to bowl against the West Indies with a broken jaw. Let us tell you that in 2002 Team India went on West Indies tour and there in the first test West Indies fast bowler Mervyn Dillon hit Anil Kumble’s jaw with a fast pace bouncer and started bleeding. Despite this, Kumble batted for 20 minutes and played an important role in drawing that test with the West Indies.
Australia’s place confirmed in WTC final! 3 teams in the race, out New Zealand poses a threat to India
Not only this, Kumble bowled with a broken jaw. He dismissed the dangerous Brian Lara in the first innings of this test. And to do this he bowled 14 consecutive overs.
