Because now the Canadian government is closing the major facility given to its visitors. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the immigration unit of the Canadian Government, has issued information in this regard. This country is now closing the visitor work permit facility. This new rule has been implemented from 28 August 2024.

What is Canada Visitor Work Permit?

In the earlier rule, people going to Canada on a visitor visa were allowed to work there temporarily. For this, they were issued a visitor work permit by IRCC Canada. But now the Trudeau government has tightened the working rules for people living on Canada Visitor Visa. That is, visitors will no longer be able to apply for a work permit while living in Canada.

Actually, this rule was started in August 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time many people were stuck in Canada and were unable to go back. Therefore, the government allowed them to work while staying in Canada. This rule was earlier going to end by February 2025, but a concession of a few days was given. Now finally it has been implemented from 28 August.

Old applications will be considered

However, IRCC has clarified that all applications received before August 28, 2024 will be considered as per the old rules.

At the same time, experts believe that this is another way to reduce the number of immigrants coming to Canada. Recently, the recruitment of low-paid immigrants under the ‘Temporary Foreign Worker Program’ has also been banned. The government is taking such decisions due to many reasons like rising prices of houses in Canada, pressure on health services and elections.
