This is because Joker: Folie à Deux, released in theaters on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, is expected to suffer a loss of at least 150-200 million dollars. This film has flopped badly at the box office. Therefore, now the makers are planning to make up for the losses by releasing it on OTT. ‘Joker 2’, directed by Todd Phillips, is made under the banner of Warner Bros. It is the sequel to the cult classic ‘Joker’ released in 2019. While the previous film had earned more than a billion dollars at the box office, Joaquin Phoenix also received the Academy Award for Best Actor and the film for Best Background Score. But now the makers have got a big blow with the sequel film in 2024.

Budget is 300 million dollars, earning is 165 million dollars

According to the report of ‘Variety Magazine’, ‘Joker 2’ has done a worldwide business of 165 million dollars i.e. about Rs 1386 crore in 13 days. The problem is that the budget of ‘Joker 2’ is $200 million. Whereas 100 million dollars have been spent separately in its promotion. Overall, this film, made with a budget of 300 million dollars, has so far been able to earn only half of its budget. Whereas looking at the condition of the film in theatres, there is no hope from it.

The film may suffer a loss of 100-150 million dollars

The magazine has quoted Warner Bros. sources as saying that a plan has been made to release the film Andarkhane on OTT this month. The makers are assuming that the film will not be able to earn more than $200-210 million in its lifetime. Obviously, this way the film will be in loss in any case. Therefore, the makers want to recover from the loss of 100-150 million dollars (about 1200 crores) by releasing it on OTT soon.

However, there is no official confirmation from the makers yet. But it is understood that this film will start streaming on OTT from October 29 at the end of this month. At present, no announcement has been made regarding the OTT platform. But it is understood that it will be released on HBO Max or Netflix. In India it can also be released on Jio Cinema.
