JNU PhD Admission 2024: JNU increased PhD fees? Now demand to change prospectus

JNU PhD Admission 2024-25 Latest Update: The admission process for PhD in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has started and the Students Union has demanded that the PhD prospectus be revised. The union says that the fees for PhD has been increased in the name of Chief Proctor Office (CPO) manual. Also, the prospectus shows zero seats in three schools/centres – Center for Informer Sector and Labor Studies, Center for Korean Studies, School of Arts and Aesthetics. A delegation of JNUSU has also met the admission branch regarding this matter and There has been a demand to revise the prospectus. However, the administration says that the fees have not been increased, only Rs 45 have been fixed as extra for CPO manual. The fees for PhD in JNU is less than Rs 500. At the same time, in JNU, the fees for PhD in Engineering (about Rs 21 thousand/semester) and Management (Rs 50 thousand/semester) are higher.

JNU PhD Admission Date: When will it happen?

  • Students will be able to apply online for PhD admission 2024-25 in the university till December 2. The registration process for admission has started.
  • There will be a chance for correction in JNU PhD form on 3rd and 4th December.
  • The first merit list of students selected for PhD will be released on 30th December.
  • The second merit list will be released on 8th January and the third/final list will be released on 24th January.
  • The interview process will run from 16th December to 21st December.
  • JNU PhD admission last date has been fixed as 5th February.

JNU will make admissions on the basis of NET, NET-JRF, GATE qualification and interview. This time, due to delay in NET UGC result, the admission process is delayed by about four months.

PhD JNU: Case stuck in 3 centers

Apart from this, the matter of non-opening of PhD admission is pending in three schools/centres. Actually, JNU has written to include Labor Studies and Korean language in NET. Students are not ready for admission through NET for Labor Studies and Art and Aesthetics and other similar subjects. There is a demand to have a separate entrance for these. Earlier also, admissions in JNU were done through entrance.
