JEE Main 2025: What are the tie breaker conditions for JEE Main and Advanced? Which will decide the rank of students

Candidates appearing for engineering entrance exams have a good command over Maths and this subject also affects their ranking. When the aggregate score of those taking the exam is the same, then those students who have secured more marks in Maths get a higher rank. Joint Entrance Examination (Joint Entrance Examination)jee mainAlthough there is some difference in the tie breaker formula of JEE (Advanced)-2025 for admission in ) and 23 IIT colleges, but the factor of Maths is important in both the exams.

JEE (Advanced) 2025: More correct answers, higher rank

If there is a tie among students in JEE (Advanced) for admission to IIT and many other institutes, then first of all it will be seen who has got more positive marks. Positive marks are calculated on the basis of correct answers given by the student.
Even after Step 1, there is a tie among some students, then in Step 2, the number of Maths comes and those who have more marks in Maths, their rank gets higher. Physics marks will be seen in Step 3. If even after all three steps some students remain on common score, then all of them are given the same rank.

JEE Main: Maths comes first in tie breaker

According to the tie breaker rule of JEE Main, first rank will be given on the basis of NTA score in Maths. After that NTA score of Physics, Chemistry will be seen. Even after calculating the NTA score of all three subjects, if the common score remains, then it will be seen which students have given more correct answers overall. Even after that, if some candidates are left then the ratio of right-wrong answers will be seen in Maths, then Physics and then Chemistry.

Range of courses in IIT:

There are 23 IITs in the country. If we look at the courses in different IITs, then 4 year B. Take. And there is Bachelor of Science (BS) course. Along with this, in many places there is a 5 year dual degree course B.Tech-M.Tech. Dual degree is BS-MS.
It is a five year integrated MTech course. It is an integrated BS-MS course. Engineering and management can be studied together. There is also a Duty Degree B.Tech-MBA course, which is of 5 years. Admission in these courses is also done on the basis of JEE Advanced score.

How correct is the tie breaker formula?

Career counselor Alok Bansal says that the way competition is, there will definitely be a tie. Some people will get the college of their choice because they have more marks in Maths, while some will be left only because of having half or one mark less in Maths.
he/she says that since there is negative marking in these exams and the student will definitely attempt the questions, some questions arise on including how many correct answers or how many wrong answers in an exam in the tie breaker rules. Just as there is a need to improve the process of normalization, similarly there should be some amendments in the tie breaker formula also.
