JEE Advanced 2025: Attempts to take JEE Advanced exam have increased, new rules released, know everything here!

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has released the eligibility criteria for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2025. Only students who fulfill these criteria will be able to appear for JEE Advanced. This includes things like expected performance in JEE Mains exam, number of attempts, age limit, appearance in class 12th exam and first admission in IIT. It is worth noting that the number of attempts for JEE Advanced exam has been increased from 2 to 3. 1. Age Limit Criteria of JEE Advanced:

Candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000 to meet the age limit for JEE Advanced. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories are eligible for age relaxation of five years provided they were born on or after October 1, 1995.

2. Performance in JEE Mains 2025:

To qualify for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025, candidates have to be among the top 2,50,000 rankers in the Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology (BE/B.Tech.) paper. This paper is also called Paper I of JEE (Main) 2025.

3. Number of attempts to give JEE Advanced:

JEE aspirants are allowed a maximum of three attempts in the JEE Advanced exam, these attempts are limited to 3 consecutive years.

4. Advance admission in IIT:

If a student has already taken admission in an IIT, i.e. has been admitted to any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) under any academic program listed under the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Professional Rules 2024 or before, even if he/she/she has applied online If reporting is done then such student will not be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025 examination.

However, candidates who were admitted to the preparatory course in an IIT for the first time in 2024 are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025. Additionally, candidates who were allotted seats in IITs through JoSAA but did not report ‘online’ or withdrew their admission before the final round of seat allotment, or had their seats canceled before the final round. has been done, all such students are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2024.

5. Attendance in class 12th:

To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 examination, candidates must appear for the class 12th (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2023, 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates who appeared for their class 12th (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2022 or before are not entitled for eligibility regardless of the combination or number of subjects.
