Krishna Janmashtami school Holiday in Hindi: This year, on 26 August 2024, the whole of India will celebrate the festival of Krishna Janmashtami. This day is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Lord Krishna. Schools, colleges and all other educational institutions will remain closed on this special day. Janmashtami is celebrated with great pomp in Uttar Pradesh, especially in Mathura, where Lord Krishna was born.

If your children study in Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Bhubaneswar in Odisha, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Srinagar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong or Shimla, their schools will remain closed tomorrow.
If we talk about states, schools will remain closed on August 26 in most cities of Gujarat, Telangana, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.

However, schools will not be closed in all states. Contact your school to know whether schools will be open or closed. Janmashtami is also known by many other names, such as Gokulashtami, Sri Krishna Jayanti and Saptam Ashtami.

Many schools celebrated Janmashtami on August 24 itself. Children were told that Janmashtami symbolizes the end of darkness and the defeat of evil. Students depicted the birth of Lord Krishna through plays and explained that good triumphs over evil. They also gave the message that, ‘Every moment of life is a celebration. The more you praise and celebrate life, the more there is to celebrate in life.’
