Jammu Kashmir Result 2024: It got support in Jammu, but Kashmir empty handed… What will be BJP’s plan now?

New Delhi: The results of the assembly elections held in two states just after the Lok Sabha elections are very surprising. In Haryana, it was believed that this time BJP would be defeated, but the party has won a landslide victory. At the same time, despite the big announcements of development works in Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Article 370, BJP has got defeated. The party’s performance was good in Jammu, but as usual in Kashmir, this time too the account was not opened. National Conference has emerged as the largest party in Jammu and Kashmir. Out of 90 seats in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, 43 are in Jammu and 47 in Kashmir. If we look at the seats in Jammu in the election results declared on Tuesday, BJP has won 29 seats here. There were huge votes in favor of BJP in Hindu dominated seats. By winning more than half the seats, BJP has emerged as the largest party in Jammu region.

However, BJP’s hands remained empty this time too in Kashmir. In the 47-seat Kashmir region, BJP could not open its account on even a single seat. Earlier in the 2014 assembly elections also, BJP had got 25 seats from Jammu, but not a single candidate from Kashmir won. After the removal of Article 370 in 2019, BJP prepared many big plans for Kashmir, but they had no impact.

Promise of new Kashmir could not get votes

In this election, BJP had presented the picture of Kashmir, which had gained independence after facing the brunt of insurgency for decades. For a long time, the administration of Jammu and Kashmir was under the central government. In such a situation, BJP entered the election field keeping in mind the issues like security of the valley, employment opportunities and tourism. A promise was also made to create a new Kashmir, but BJP’s strategy proved to be a complete failure in the valley.

What were the reasons for the defeat in Kashmir?

After the removal of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir was made a Union Territory and there were restrictions in the valley for a long time. According to political experts, efforts to remove the pain in the minds of people due to the abolition of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir could not be made in a strong manner. The government’s security strategy for ‘New Kashmir’ also included a policy of collective responsibility and punishment, which resulted in public dissatisfaction.

Haryana Election Result: How many votes did cow protector Bittu Bajrangi get? Surprised by this number
People supported the government’s strict action against terrorism, separatism and stone pelting, but a large population felt that their freedom of speech was being snatched under the guise of this. These people felt that the protest was being suppressed by showing fear. This was a major reason for BJP not getting votes in the valley.
