New Delhi: As the date of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir (Jammu Kashmir Election) is coming closer, the political temperature is also rising. BJP and Congress have jumped into the electoral battle with full preparation. In the same episode, Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Kharge have gone on a two-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul Gandhi addressed the party workers in Srinagar. he/she promised that Jammu and Kashmir will be given the status of a full state as soon as possible. ‘People should get their democratic rights back’

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that restoring full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is the priority of the Congress and the opposition alliance ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (‘India’). Rahul also said that it is his/her party’s goal that the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh get their democratic rights back. he/she said, ‘The priority of the Congress Party and ‘India’ is that the full statehood status of Jammu and Kashmir should be restored as soon as possible. We hoped that this would be done before the elections, but the elections were announced. We are hoping that the full statehood status will be restored as soon as possible and the rights (democratic rights) of the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be restored.’ he/she said that this is the first time after independence that a state has become a union territory.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir to review the preparations for the assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi said that it is a privilege to come here and he/she has a deep relationship with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. he/she said, ‘My message to the people of Jammu and Kashmir is that the Congress Party is always with you. We understand that you are going through a very difficult time. We want to end the difficult times and violence. As I said in the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ – we want to open ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan in the market of hatred’ with respect and brotherhood.

When are the elections in Jammu and Kashmir?

Elections will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1 for the 90 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir. Counting of votes will take place on June 4. Assembly elections are going to be held for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir after most of the provisions of Article 370 were abolished in the year 2019.

What did Farooq Abdullah say on the alliance with Congress?

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said the alliance with the Congress has been finalised for all 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The announcement was made after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge held a meeting with the NC leadership at Abdullah’s residence. “Our meeting was very good in a cordial atmosphere. The alliance is on the right track and God willing, it will run smoothly. The alliance has been finalised. It will be signed this evening and the alliance is for all 90 seats,” Abdullah said. “(MY) Tarigami of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is also with us. I hope we will get the support of the people and we will win with a huge majority to improve the lives of the people,” Abdullah said.
