Jammu and Kashmir: If not on assembly seats adjoining PAK border in the first phase, then where will voting take place? Know the details of all three phases

New Delhi: The notification for the first phase of elections to be held in three phases on 90 assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir was issued on 20 August. With this, the process of filing nomination papers also started. In view of the recent terrorist attacks in the state, in the first phase, elections will be held not on the assembly seats bordering Pakistan but on 24 assembly seats on the side of Kargil, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.

Elections will be held in three phases

Voting for the first phase will be held on Wednesday, 18 September. The commission said that some voters also come in Shikaras to cast their votes at these three floating polling stations in Dal Lake. Every possible facility is provided inside these floating polling stations as per the need of the voters. If a voter is unable to come here due to any reason, then arrangements will be made for his/her/her travel. Officials said that in the elections to be held in three phases, voters of 24 assembly seats in the first phase on 18 September, 26 assembly seats in the second phase on 25 September and 40 assembly seats in the third phase on 1 October will decide the fate of the candidates.

Special polling stations will be built for displaced migrants from Kashmir

Proper arrangements have been made for Kashmiri migrants displaced from Jammu and Kashmir to vote. These include Kashmiri migrants living in Delhi, Jammu and Udhampur areas. 26 special polling stations will be set up for them at these places. Out of these, 21 will be set up in Jammu, 4 in Delhi and 1 in Udhampur. Where Kashmiri migrants will be able to cast their votes and exercise their rights. For this, preparations have been almost completed by the CEO office of Jammu and Kashmir. Just like the Lok Sabha elections, voters above 85 years of age will have the option to vote from home in the assembly elections here.
