Israeli government pushed commission of 3 months investigation on 7 October




The Israeli government decided to carry forward a 90 -day discussion on an independent inquiry commission in the October 7 attacks on Sunday night.

The meeting was held after the High Court justice in December, giving the government 90 days to hear the matter.

Netanyahu and other government ministers say that a state investigation of failures that Hamas’s October 7 attacks should be held only after the war. Critics accused Netanyahu of delaying the investigation and trying to water the powers of a commission.

The call is increasing for the government to appoint an independent inquiry commission for the government to investigate political and military failures. Such commissions have a widespread right to call witnesses and gather evidence and are led by a senior Justice of the Supreme Court. They can include personal recommendations about individuals under investigation, although the government is not obliged to work on recommendations.

The investigation of the final state commission, which investigated the worst civilian disaster of Israel – a stampede that killed 45 people at a holy site on Mount Meron – Netanyahu was attributed to personally in a report released in April.

The army presented its investigation to Defense Minister Israel Katj. This investigation only deals with operational and command issues and not political decisions. At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israel and foreigners were taken hostage on Hamas attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on 7 October. Out of 76 remaining hostages, more than 30 died.
