ISKCON center set on fire in Bangladesh, many statues burnt, when will attacks on Hindu temples stop?

New Delhi: ISKCON on Saturday alleged that its center in Dhaka, Bangladesh was set on fire on Saturday. ISKCON Kolkata vice-president Radharaman Das said the miscreants set fire to the idols in the temple at Namhatta property. Members of the community and members of the Vaishnav sect are being continuously targeted and attacked.

In a post on social media platform ‘X’, he/she said, ‘ISKCON Namhatta center was burnt in Bangladesh. The idols of Sri Sri Lakshmi Narayan and all the objects inside the temple have been completely burnt. This center is located in Dhaka. The miscreants set fire to Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple and Sri Sri Mahabhagya Lakshmi Narayan Temple at 2-3 am on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. These temples come under the jurisdiction of Hare Krishna Namhatta Sangha located at Dhaur village under Turag police station of Dhaka district.

Das claimed that minorities are being continuously attacked in the neighboring country and despite ISKCON informing the interim government of Bangladesh about these incidents, the police and administration have not taken any specific steps to stop them.

BJP West Bengal unit president and Union minister Sukant Majumdar said in a post on ‘X’, ‘I strongly condemn the incident of setting on fire at ISKCON Namhatta center in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in which Sri Sri Lakshmi Narayan The idols and sacred objects of the temple were destroyed. The Union Minister of State for Education said, ‘This is an unforgivable act of hatred at a place of worship. Immediate action should be taken to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of minorities.
