Is there a rift between Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh? Allies are not supporting Congress in Parliament, claims BJP

New Delhi: Taking aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the BJP on Wednesday claimed that members of the major constituents of the opposition ‘India’ alliance did not join his/her party’s protest against the resolution brought by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on the issue of imposition of Emergency in the country in 1975. The ruling party at the Centre also alleged that the Congress had imposed Emergency on the country for ‘hunger for power’ and due to this hunger for power of the Gandhi family, the boat of ‘India’ alliance is faltering.Speaker Om Birla had read the proposal regarding emergency
In fact, soon after his/her election as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla read out a resolution in the lower house condemning the imposition of emergency and termed the decision of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as an attack on the Constitution. There was also a confrontation between the government and the opposition in the first session of the lower house when the Lok Sabha Speaker mentioned the emergency.

‘Congress is creating ruckus, SP did not support’
BJP national spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra said, ‘As soon as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla moved a censure motion on the Emergency, the Congress people stood up and started creating a ruckus. Congress people were running away, but the Samajwadi Party people were sitting. Whether Rahul Gandhi stands up or not, shouts or not, he/she should look at Akhilesh ji once and his/her people once.’ he/she said, ‘This situation occurs when you are unjust and try to appear just.’

‘Opposition parties did not join Congress’ protest’
Patra claimed that this situation arose because members of Samajwadi Party (SP), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) did not join his/her (Rahul Gandhi) party’s protest. he/she said, ‘Congress members were protesting and creating ruckus near the Speaker’s chair while SP, DMK and TMC members stood up from their seats and stood peacefully. Seeing them, Rahul Gandhi also finally had to stand up from his/her seat.’

‘The opposition alliance is faltering due to hunger for power’Patra said, ‘Remember the time when Indira Gandhi was hungry for power. For the hunger for power, Congress imposed emergency on the country and this hunger for power of the Gandhi family is shaking the ‘Indy’ alliance.’ he/she said that Rahul Gandhi knows that his/her grandmother and his/her family have made a mistake but he/she is only worried about gaining power. Patra thanked Trinamool Congress, DMK and all other members of the Lok Sabha for being sensitive and observing silence in memory of those who lost their lives during the Emergency.
