Is there a problem regarding Lok Sabha Speaker? Seeing the ‘desire’ of JDU and TDP, the opposition is making this strategy

New Delhi: Modi government has been formed for the third time in the country, but BJP still faces many challenges. In Modi Government 3.0, MPs from NDA alliance parties have also been made ministers. Now the problem is about the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. According to sources, both NDA’s major allies JDU and TDP are eyeing the post of Speaker. At the same time, BJP wants to keep the post of Speaker with itself. In such a situation, now there is news that the opposition INDIA alliance can also field its candidate for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker, if the post of Deputy Speaker is not given to them. According to sources, the election of the new Speaker for the 18th Lok Sabha will be held on June 26. According to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, nominations for proposals supporting the candidates can be submitted till noon a day before.

Who can become the Speaker of Lok Sabha?

According to media reports, the post of Lok Sabha Speaker has been demanded by JDU and TDP. However, a senior leader dismissed these media reports and said, NDA allies JDU and TDP have not demanded the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. This matter will first be considered internally and then consensus will be made by discussing with the allies. However, JDU and TDP do not seem to be unanimous on this issue. While Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP says that NDA allies should decide a unanimous candidate, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JDU has said that they will support BJP’s decision.

JDU leader KC Tyagi has said that both his/her party and TDP are part of NDA and will support the candidate nominated by BJP for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. he/she said, ‘The speaker always belongs to the ruling party as it has the highest number of members among the alliance parties.

On the other hand, TDP national spokesperson Pattabhi Ram Kommareddy told The Indian Express that the candidate should be decided jointly by the NDA allies. he/she said, ‘The NDA allies will sit together and decide who will be our candidate for the Speaker. Once a consensus is reached, we will field that candidate and all allies, including the TDP, will support that candidate.

How and when will the Lok Sabha Speaker be elected?

According to the information, the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will begin from June 24. During this session, the oath of MPs and the election of the Speaker will also take place. BJP will contact the opposition parties, so that the Speaker can be elected unanimously. If the opposition agrees to the government’s proposal, then there will be no need for elections. On the other hand, if the opposition also fields its own candidate, then voting for the new Speaker can be held on June 26, and the new Speaker can take charge on the same day.

Let us tell you that in the first term of the Modi government, Indore MP and BJP leader Sumitra Mahajan was the Lok Sabha Speaker. While in the second term, BJP MP from Kota, Rajasthan, Om Birla was made the Speaker.

Why are there obstacles in the post of Speaker this time?

In 2014 and 2019, BJP had an absolute majority. In such a situation, they had no problem in making their own speaker. But this time BJP is far from majority on its own. In such a situation, the government has been formed with the support of other NDA allies including JDU and TDP. There is speculation that both TDP and JDU are demanding the post of speaker. If any suggestions or demands come from the allies regarding this post, then BJP will consider a new formula.
