New Delhi. The tenure of the current coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, is till the T20 World Cup 2024. The BCCI has issued applications for the new coach. However, nothing has been clarified by the BCCI yet as to who will be the next head coach. According to the report, it is being told that Gautam Gambhir can become the next coach of the Indian team. On this, former cricketer Anil Kumble has said that Gambhir can become the coach but he/she will have to give some time.

Anil Kumble said on ESPN Cricinfo, “You have to give Gautam Gambhir time. he/she is definitely capable. We have seen Gautam handle teams. he/she has been the captain for India, his/her franchise and Delhi. he/she has all the qualifications to do so. But, coaching the Indian team is a bit different. You have to give him/her time to settle down. And as I said, if he/she takes up this position, he/she will have the task of looking after not only the current team but also the future of Indian cricket.”

Gautam Gambhir played an important role in helping India win two World Cups. he/she scored a half-century in the T20 World Cup 2007. he/she played a match-winning innings of 97 runs in the final of the ODI World Cup 2011. his/her contribution in the final match is remembered even today. he/she has scored more than 10,000 runs for India in all three formats. Gambhir has also scored 20 centuries in international cricket.
