Is cesarean delivery better than normal? The doctor said this method reduces the child’s pain

There are two most popular types of delivery – one is cesarean and the other is vaginal delivery. Generally, women and doctors also consider normal or vaginal delivery to be the best because recovery after it is quick. However, it takes months to recover completely after cesarean delivery.

At present, some women opt for cesarean delivery because they do not want to bear the pain of normal delivery. Meanwhile, there is always a debate about which of these two methods is better. Asha Gawde, a gynecologist at Pune’s Umang Hospital, has shared a video on her Instagram explaining the benefits of having a cesarean instead of a normal delivery.

The baby does not feel any pain

Dr Asha told that in a cesarean delivery, the baby is gently taken out by cutting the stomach. There is no pressure on the baby and he/she comes out very comfortably. Whereas in a normal delivery, the baby stays in the birth canal for a long time, due to which there is a risk of him/her getting less oxygen.

Sometimes in normal delivery, some equipment is used to pull the baby out such as vacuum or forceps. This puts the baby at risk of trauma. On the other hand, no equipment is used on the baby in cesarean delivery. This reduces the risk of any kind of trauma to the baby.

The doctor said that during normal delivery, many times the rectum or urinary tract gets injured when the baby comes out. Due to this, women have difficulty in controlling urine after delivery, the muscles of the vagina get torn or become loose. Due to this, there may be problems in sex and inability to control urine in the future. All these problems do not occur in cesarean delivery.

Having a cesarean delivery reduces the risk of injury to the vagina and bladder. Apart from this, the risk of the uterus, vagina, bladder or rectum coming out also reduces. This is called pelvic organ prolapse. However, it takes a lot of time to recover after a cesarean.
