Is Canada cutting down on giving visas to Indians? Know why these questions started arising

Canada Visa for Indians: The dispute between India and Canada that started last year is gradually deepening. There was a conflict between the two countries over the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which escalated so much that India and Canada recalled their diplomats. At present the relations between the two countries are at their lowest level. Khalistanis on Monday attacked a Hindu temple in Brampton city of Canada, for which they are being condemned across India.
At present, the troubles of Indians have increased due to the ongoing diplomatic and political dispute between Canada and India. It has become difficult for Indians to obtain visas to study, work and meet family members in Canada. There is increasing concern among Indians as the wait for visas is becoming longer. It is being said that Canada is cutting the visas issued to Indians. Questions have also been raised to the Ministry of External Affairs of India in this regard.

What did India say on the question regarding Canadian visa?

When Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was asked about reducing the number of visas by the Canadian government, he/she replied as follows. he/she said, “India is monitoring the safety of its students and professional workers living in Canada. We remain concerned about their safety and security.” A large portion of the temporary foreign workers coming to Canada for jobs and foreign students coming to study come from India.

What is the reason for issuing less number of visas?

Actually, India has called its diplomats and officials from Canada. Canada has also done the same. Because of this, there are now four Canadian immigration officers left in India. In 2023 their number was 27. Fewer immigration officers means longer visa processing times. The Canadian minister had also expressed apprehension that Canada’s visa process could be affected due to the dispute.

Immigration Minister Mark Miller said that the current situation is affecting Canada’s visa process. I have told my colleagues in Parliament that the situation may worsen. They should be ready for this. he/she said that this could mean that the number of people traveling between the two countries could reduce.
