IPS Harinath Mishra becomes Security Secretary in Cabinet Secretariat, will handle PM’s security

New Delhi: The Central Government has appointed senior IPS officer Harinath Mishra as Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat. The Personnel Ministry issued the order on Friday. Harinath Mishra is a 1990 batch IPS officer of Kerala cadre. he/she is currently the Special Director General in the Intelligence Bureau i.e. IB. he/she will replace Swagata Das, who is retiring on Saturday. The Appointments Cabinet Committee (ACC) has approved it. On the other hand, the tenure of the head of the Election Management Institute was shortened.

Harinath Mishra will handle the security of PM residence

Harinath Mishra will now take charge of the security of the Prime Minister and his/her family. Secretary (Security) is the administrative head of the Special Protection Group (SPG). SPG provides security to the Prime Minister and his/her family. This security is given at his/her official residence.

Tenure of another officer reduced

Apart from this, in another order the tenure of Dharmendra Sharma has been shortened. Dharmendra Sharma was the director of India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management i.e. IDEA. The Ministry of Personnel issued this order. This decision has been taken on the request of the Election Commission. This will come into effect with immediate effect. Sharma is a retired IAS officer of 1988 batch. he/she belonged to Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre.
