New Delhi. As IPL 2024 is progressing and the T20 World Cup is approaching, a debate has started. This debate is country first or club or country first or league cricket. This debate started with the return of Mustafizur Rahman to Bangladesh. But it took a turn when the news of England players leaving the IPL and returning home came.

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. He played a match for CSK on May 1, but now he will be seen in IPL only in the next season. Reason- Mustafizur Rahman has returned home to join his national team, which has to play T20 series against Zimbabwe. This series is part of the preparations for the T20 World Cup.

Along with declaring the team for the T20 World Cup, England has made it clear that the players included in it will have to take part in the proposed T20 series with Pakistan. T20 series is to be played between England and Pakistan from 22 May. This means that cricketers like Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone will not play in the playoff round of IPL.

It is clear that the decision of England or Bangladesh has been taken in the interest of their national team, so that it is better prepared for the T20 World Cup. On the other hand, recently a T20 series was played between Pakistan and New Zealand. In this, New Zealand had to field its ‘B’ because most of its key players are playing in IPL.

Talking about the Indian team, BCCI has made it clear that most of the cricketers will leave for West Indies on May 21. But these will be those cricketers whose teams will not be able to reach the IPL playoffs. The Indian players whose team will reach the IPL playoffs will later go to West Indies. Australia has not clarified anything yet. But last season, whenever Australia had an important series, it asked its cricketers to leave the IPL midway. Therefore, it is possible that its leading cricketers like David Warner, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins may not be seen in the playoff round of IPL.
