IPL 2024: CSK moves closer to playoffs, Rituraj’s captaincy innings silences SRH’s storm


New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings has won another match in IPL 2024 by silencing the storm of Sunrisers Hyderabad. On Sunday, Super Kings defeated in-form SRH by 78 runs. The hero of Chennai Super Kings’ victory was captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who played a brilliant inning of 98 runs. This is CSK’s fifth win in the tournament. After this victory, Chennai Super Kings has reached third position in the IPL points table.

Two matches were played in IPL 2024 on Sunday. In the first match played in Ahmedabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Gujarat Titans by 9 wickets. The second match of the day was between MA of Chennai. Happened at Chidambaram Stadium. The host team won this match easily. With this win, Chennai Super Kings have gained 10 points in the IPL points table. Now only Rajasthan Royals (16) have more points than that. Kolkata Knight Riders (10) are at second place and Chennai at third place on the basis of better run rate.

Chennai Super Kings lost the toss and batted first against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Host CSK scored 212 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (98) contributed the most in this. Rituraj hit 10 fours and 3 sixes in this inning of 54 balls. Daryl Mitchell and Shivam Dubey also batted well. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell scored 52 runs in 32 balls and Shivam Dubey scored 39 runs in 20 balls. MS Dhoni remained unbeaten after scoring 5 runs in 2 balls.

SRH was reduced to 134 runs
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting, while chasing the target of 213 runs, failed miserably. The team which has repeatedly crossed the 200-run mark in the tournament, its batsmen did not live up to the expectations against Chennai Super Kings. The result was that Sunrisers Hyderabad team was out after scoring 134 runs in 18.5 overs. This is the first time in IPL 2024 that Hyderabad team has been all out.

Tushar Deshpande took 4 wickets
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, only Aiden Markram (32) could score more than 30 runs. Heinrich Klaasen was out after scoring 20 runs and Abdul Samad was out after scoring 19 runs. Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Reddy returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs each. 13 runs came off the bat of Travis Head. Tushar Deshpande took maximum 4 wickets for Chennai Super Kings. Mustafizur Rahman and Mathisha Pathirana took 2 wickets each.
