Interview: It is important to boast about one’s work in Bollywood, my real time has now come – Shreyas Talpade

How is your health now? The news of your heart attack was a great shock to your loved ones. People were surprised that you are so fit, then how is it so?

I am fine now. It was a very shocking thing for me too, because I had never thought that something like this would happen suddenly. We think we are fit. You are taking all precautions but you do not know what is going on inside your body. Especially after Covid, the matter regarding health has gone wrong. During Covid, many people were given blood thinning medicines/injections because the blood was getting thick. Now is this the effect of Covid or the vaccine, after all the vaccine also contains the same virus, we do not know the reason but yes, things have changed after Covid. Therefore, it is important that we take more precautions.

Did you make any changes in your life after that incident?

I have made a lot of changes. Now I try to wake up early in the morning and sleep early. I try to eat food on time and work out daily. However, it is a habit of many years, it does not go away so quickly but I am trying. Now I also work for fixed hours. For example, if I have to promote the film now, I have told my team that even if they take two more days, we will work comfortably. Now I don’t do that to exhaust myself completely in a single day, these are all the things.

You have always been considered a great actor, but don’t you think that perhaps you did not get the good films and roles that you deserved. What do you think is the reason for this?

Technically there are no answers to these questions. Sometimes we feel that maybe we are lacking something. For example, I believe that as good an actor as I was considered at that time, I should have done better marketing as well. I should have capitalized on the success of the films that ran, which I did not do. That happens, isn’t it, self-promotion, that is also necessary in our profession, but we come from a theater background, so we hesitate as to why we should self-promote? We have been taught to work, if good work is done then four people will say it, but this is not the whole truth. The whole truth is that you must do the work but its marketing is equally important. Well, sometimes I also feel that some flowers bloom late, they should be given that time. Maybe now is my time. Now I am doing some things right. My films that are on release, be it ‘Kartam Bhugatam’, ‘Kampkampi’, ‘Emergency’, ‘Welcome to Jungle’ or ‘Pushpa’, in the line up, I am presenting myself in a new way. Trying to do.

‘Kartam Bhugatam’ is based on planetary movements and astrology. How much do you believe in these things in your personal life?

Let me tell you an incident. When ‘Iqbal’ was released in 2005. That’s when I got married and Deepti (wife) and I were invited to a show ‘Cosmic Chat’. When we asked Tarot card reader Sunita Menon about her first house, she said that it would happen after two years. Whereas, I was sure that the films I am getting, I will take home next year. I was determined to prove them wrong. Next year we saw the house, gave the booking amount, the loan was approved, when we went to give the final check, the person there changed, the new person started quoting an increased rate, then we had an argument and we did not get the final house. I finalized the second house but our Vastu person refused and finally our house was completed in 2007, so whether we believe it or not but such things happen then you have to believe that there is some science or power.

Your wife stood firmly during your heart attack. How much of a support is she to your life?

In fact, this shock is too much for him, so it will take him time to forget all this. Even now the poor girl remains scared. Every ten minutes she calls and asks whether you are okay, whether you have eaten food or not, whether you have taken medicine or not. That shock is deep for him. Deepti has always been a very strong woman. When we got married, I went to confess and she stayed at home with my parents for three months. It is difficult for any girl to stay away from her husband immediately after marriage but she never complained about anything. Now I think that if I can give her some happiness in any form, I will consider myself very lucky.
