Interesting plan of NCERT, it will ask the students themselves – do you like science or not?

To find out how much interest children have in science or how much fear they have about it, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will conduct a survey at the state level. Students from classes 6th to 12th will be included in this. A target has been set to complete this survey by December. Dr. Suman Sharma, in-charge of NCERT’s text book cell, said that students’ interest in science will be measured and their fears or difficulties will be understood through this. The survey will be conducted through the District Education and Training Institute. SCERT Joint Director Sunil Bajaj said that many activities are already being run by District Education and Training Institutes in Gurgaon and other districts. This survey and its results can prove to be a big step towards strengthening science education. With the collective efforts of students, teachers and parents, the dream of making science a favorite subject for every student can be realized.

Further plans will be made on the basis of the report:
Based on the data obtained from the survey, the education department will plan for teaching science in a better way to the students. This will include change in the way the subject is taught, emphasis on interactive and project based learning, establishment of resource center etc. Besides, teachers will be given special training so that they can understand the fears of the students and connect them with science subjects. This will also include increasing self-confidence among students.

These things will be known from the survey and Activities:

  • Science Model Competitions
  • Robotics and Coding Workshop
  • Live demonstration in laboratories
  • Science Quizzes and Debates
  • To motivate students to participate in national level competitions

If the fear of science subject is removed from the students and it is linked practically, then not only their studies will improve, but this subject will also prove to be very useful for their career.
