Interesting competition of Hollywood films in domestic cinemas, Nolan’s film filled the furore

Generally it has been seen that big Hollywood movies are not released simultaneously in India, but this week two Hollywood movies ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ are releasing simultaneously in theaters on July 21. Advance booking of both these films has started from last one week. According to the information received, not only director Christopher Nolan’s film ‘Oppenheimer’ is ahead of director Greta Gerwig’s film ‘Barbie’ in terms of advance booking, but the film ‘Oppenheimer’ has also got more screens than ‘Barbie’.

There is tremendous craze for Hollywood movies in India. ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ are releasing together after Tom Cruise’s film ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One’ in July. Both these films are getting a lot of craze among the audience and considering the advance booking of both the films, speculations are being made that both the films can do good business in India.

The film ‘Oppenheimer’ has sold 90,000 tickets across three multi-screen chains of PVR, INOX and Cinepolis for the opening day alone. The most expensive tickets are sold at Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel, Mumbai for Rs 2,450. Tickets are also available for INR 1,800 for the 7 PM and 10 PM shows on July 21 at the Phoenix Palladium. The tickets for this movie are available in the rest of the screens in Mumbai between 1250 to 500.

Apart from English, the film ‘Oppenheimer’ is also being released in Hindi. Compared to English, the ticket price for dubbed movies in Hindi ranges from Rs.500 to Rs.350. More than 54,000 tickets have been sold in advance for Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s film “Barbie”. Tickets are being sold for Rs 970 for the afternoon show in Mumbai. Tickets for this movie are available for Rs 500 to Rs 350 for morning and late night shows. However, ticket prices are lower in cities other than Mumbai.

As far as the screens of both the films are concerned, director Christopher Nolan’s film ‘Oppenheimer’ is releasing on around 700 screens while the film ‘Barbie’ has got around 400 screens. “Barbie” is one hour and 54 minutes long and “Oppenheimer” has a run time of over three hours. That’s why it is being speculated that the screen count of ‘Barbie’ may increase. Directed by Christopher Nolan, “Oppenheimer” stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh. Meanwhile, the film ‘Barbie’, directed by Greta Gerwig, stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.
