Now long-range missiles and high-quality indigenous equipment have also been added to it, after which it has really become more capable than Arihant. INS Arighat is equipped with missiles that can hit targets at a distance of more than 3,500 km, while INS Arihant can hit targets at a distance of about 750 km.Preparations for the third submarine too
India is set to commission its third nuclear submarine early next year, after INS Arihant and INS Arighat. The submarine ‘INS Arighat’ was inducted into the Indian Navy on August 29, 2024 at Visakhapatnam. Earlier, the Defence Minister had said that the nuclear-powered submarine is a matter of pride for the country, while describing it as an achievement of the country in line with the government’s ‘self-reliance’ initiative.

It takes a lot of hard work to make Arighat
INS Arighat was built using a number of cutting-edge technologies, including new mapping and manufacturing methods, extensive research and development, the use of special materials, complex engineering and highly skilled craftsmen. What makes it unique is that the systems and equipment used in it have been conceived, designed, manufactured and assembled by Indian scientists, industry and naval personnel. The indigenously developed technological advancements make it a much better ship than its predecessor, Arihant. The presence of both INS Arihant and INS Arighat will greatly enhance India’s capabilities to deter enemies and protect national interests.
