IndiGo’s Mumbai-Phuket flight diverted to Penang due to bad weather, know the whole matter

New Delhi : IndiGo’s flight from Mumbai to Phuket, Thailand had to be diverted to Penang, Malaysia on Friday due to bad weather. IndiGo company gave this information. Some people also informed about the diversion of the plane through social media platforms. IndiGo issued a statement saying that due to adverse weather conditions in Phuket, flight 6E 1701 from Mumbai to Phuket was diverted to the nearest airport, Penang, Malaysia. The plane stayed in Penang for about four hours and then after getting the necessary approval, it took off and landed at Phuket airport.

The airline said that the process of obtaining the necessary permission to operate the flight to Phuket (Thailand) was discussed. This took some time, now the plane has landed in Phuket. According to the statement, the passengers were given full information about the unexpected route change. Meanwhile, refreshments have been arranged for their convenience. Information about the number of passengers on board the plane could not be obtained immediately.

According to information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24, the flight was being operated by an A320 aircraft. IndiGo said that though the airline had no direct involvement, the flight was diverted to Penang as a necessary precaution to ensure the safety of passengers.
