India’s satellite toll system will be different from America-Japan, these vehicles will have to pay double tax

New Delhi: Under the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) starting from next year on NHAI’s toll roads in India, toll evaders may have to pay double the amount. For this, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is making preparations at various levels. In this, not only will the pollution and fitness certificates of the vehicles evading toll be stopped, but double toll will also be charged from them. Along with this, special mobile vans will be deployed in the middle of the expressway, which will note the numbers of those vehicles. The on-board unit, i.e. the automatic toll tax deduction system, can also be shut down for vehicles breaking the rules.

India’s system will be slightly different

Officials said that in reality, the Indian system is slightly different from the toll collection process under GNSS in various countries including Dubai, America, Japan and Australia. Here people try to steal toll even with fast tags. In such a situation, some drivers will try to steal toll even in the toll collection system under GNSS. An Indian model is being prepared for this. In which any car, bus, truck or any other vehicle paying toll will be found stealing toll in any form. Strictest action will be taken against him/her.

If a vehicle owner brings his/her vehicle on the toll road without keeping any money in his/her account, his/her vehicle will not be stopped anywhere in the middle. But whenever he/she gets his/her vehicle pollution or fitness done, he/she will have to pay the toll first. Such vehicles cannot be sold without paying the toll. Double toll will be charged as a penalty from all such vehicle owners who evade toll. A provision is also being made to impose a heavy penalty against vehicle owners who repeatedly evade toll.

These vehicles will have double challan

Apart from this, it can be a little difficult to catch those vehicles. Those drivers who switch off or remove the OBU installed in their vehicles and drive on the highway. To catch such vehicles, mobile vans equipped with special software will be placed in the middle of the highway. These will note the numbers of such vehicles and send the challan with double toll on their registration number to their homes. Initially, mobile vans will be placed, later cameras equipped with this special software will be installed on the expressway. Therefore, toll theft in the satellite system will be very costly for the drivers.
