India’s role became important in the Russia-Ukraine war, this plan came to light after PM Modi’s visit

New Delhi: PM Modi’s Russia visit has ended. Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Austria from Russia on Tuesday. Modi’s two-day Russia visit was historic in many ways. President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his/her efforts to help find a peaceful solution to the Ukraine crisis. According to Russia’s official news agency TASS, Putin said, “I am grateful to you for focusing on the most important issues, especially efforts to find ways to solve the Ukraine crisis through peaceful means.” Putin made this statement during a conversation with Modi at the Kremlin, Russia’s presidential office.

What happened on the Russia-Ukraine war

In his/her initial statement broadcast on television, Modi assured Putin and the world community that India is in favour of peace and is ready to contribute to ending the conflict in Ukraine. he/she said peace is most important for a bright future. Peace talks cannot succeed amidst bombs, guns and bullets. The Prime Minister also mentioned his/her informal conversation with Putin on Monday and said that listening to the Russian President brought hope.

Modi honoured with Russia’s highest civilian award

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was officially awarded the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. Modi has been awarded this honor for his/her contribution towards promoting bilateral relations between the two countries. President Putin honored Prime Minister Modi at a special ceremony at St. Andrew’s Hall in the Kremlin. The award was announced in 2019. Prime Minister Modi is the first Indian leader to receive this honor. While accepting the award, Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the people of India and the traditional bond of friendship between India and Russia.

Increased trade between the two countries
Russian President Putin said he/she believes that Russia and India have a special strategic partnership. We have had a good friendship for decades. Today, our relations have the element of a special strategic partnership. Putin expressed satisfaction at the growing trade between the two countries. he/she said it grew by 66 per cent last year and by another 20 per cent in the first quarter of this year. Putin congratulated Modi on being re-elected as India’s Prime Minister. Putin also noted that Modi is on his/her first official visit to Russia after the formation of his/her government in New Delhi last month.

PM Modi will visit Russia again in October

Putin has also invited Modi to the BRICS summit to be held in the Russian city of Kazan in October. “We will be glad to see you at the BRICS summit in Kazan this year,” the Russian President said addressing Modi. This year Russia holds the presidency of BRICS. “Prime Minister Modi has said that he/she will come to Russia again in October to attend the BRICS summit in Kazan,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. BRICS is an inter-governmental organisation comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, Argentina and the United Arab Emirates have joined the group as new members of BRICS.

After Russia, Modi leaves for Austria

Narendra Modi left for Austria on Tuesday after completing his/her two-day visit to Russia. During the visit to Russia, the two countries discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, manufacturing and fertilizers. Prime Minister Modi started his/her two-day visit to Russia on Monday. This was his/her first visit to Russia since Russia’s attack on Ukraine. The Russian President hosted a private dinner at his/her residence in honor of Modi on Monday night. Modi was awarded Russia’s highest civilian honor, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, on Tuesday. When Modi reaches Vienna, it will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Austria in more than 40 years. Earlier, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had visited this country in 1983.
