India’s ‘do or die’ competition is not easy, the one it has to face has snatched the trophy only 2 months ago.

New Delhi. The Indian team is now stuck in a do or die situation in the Women’s T20 World Cup. India’s crushing defeat against New Zealand has trapped India in this problem. A big win over Pakistan could have reduced this problem, but India could not finish the match by the desired margin. Now India faces the Sri Lankan women’s team. On paper, this match may seem easy for India, but it is not so. Sri Lanka had defeated the Indian women’s team in the final of the Asia Cup just two months ago.

Now if India wants to reach the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup, then it will have to win both its remaining group matches. That too by a huge margin. India still has to play Sri Lanka and Australia in Group A. Indian fans can still hope for a big win against Sri Lanka, but it will be difficult to achieve the same against six-time champion Australia. Obviously, when India will face Sri Lankan women’s team, it would want the margin of victory to be 40-50 runs or the target should be achieved before 15 overs.

The Women’s T20 World Cup match between the women’s teams of India and Sri Lanka is to be held on Wednesday, October 9. The Sri Lankan team has played two matches in the tournament. his/her winning account has not been opened yet. Pakistan defeated them by 31 runs and Australia defeated them by 6 wickets with 34 balls remaining. Indian fans would like India’s victory to be better than that of Pakistan or Australia. If this does not happen then the Indian team will fall into the trap of run rate even after winning.

Currently, in Group A of the Women’s T20 World Cup, all four teams India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand have won one match each. These four have 2 marks each. India is at fourth place in terms of net run rate. Only two out of 5 teams in the group, India (−1.217) and Sri Lanka (−1.667) have negative run rates. New Zealand is at first place with 2 points and 2.900 run rate. The run rate of Australia (1.908) and Pakistan (0.555) is also positive. The top 2 teams of the group will enter the semi-finals. If the points remain equal then the semi-finalist team will be decided on the basis of net run rate.
