India’s defense manufacturing strength is once again confirmed, HAL gets new order

New Delhi: India’s defense company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has received an order for 156 Light Combat Helicopters from the Ministry of Defense. With the new order, HAL’s stock is seeing a rise of more than 5 percent and at 12 noon it was at Rs 5,470. In a regulatory filing by HAL, it was said that the company has received a Request for Proposal (RPF) from the Ministry of Defense for 156 Light Combat Helicopters. Out of 156 helicopters, 90 helicopters are for the Indian Army and 66 helicopters are for the Indian Air Force.

Tender worth Rs 45,000 to 50,000 crore

Let us tell you, RPF is a document in which any government or company describes its requirements. It contains information about the process, timeline, terms and conditions of purchasing goods. It is believed that this tender can be worth Rs 45,000 to 50,000 crores. The proposal to purchase 156 Light Combat Helicopters to HAL reflects the government’s commitment to become self-reliant in defense manufacturing.

Defense Minister had expressed commitment

Taking charge after the formation of the new government, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our aim is to strengthen the security of the country. Along with this, we have to achieve self-sufficiency in defence needs. Before getting the new order of 156 Light Combat Helicopters, HAL had an order book of Rs 38,561 crore.

Defense industry is growing rapidly

Recently, an agreement has been signed between India and America to make advanced GE engines. These engines will be made by HAL. The defense industry in India is developing rapidly. Another government defense company Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has an order book of Rs 75,934 crore. L&T, which also does business in the defense sector, has an order book of Rs 94,000 crore.
