Indians in Foreign Countries: ‘Plight’ of Indians in the name of jobs abroad! Government can take big action

Status of Indians abroad: The number of people from India who go abroad for jobs and studies is in lakhs. In search of jobs, Indians have reached from African countries to Asian countries. However, there are many agents who take advantage of unemployment and helplessness to trap Indian citizens in foreign countries. Not only this, but they also cheat their hard-earned money. In recent years, information about Indians being stranded in many countries has come to light.
There have been several incidents of Indians being forced to do menial or even dangerous jobs abroad after being promised better jobs. This has also put the government in the circle of questions. However, now the government seems to be becoming alert about the plight of Indians abroad. A parliamentary committee headed by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is going to look into the issue of the conditions of people going abroad for work.

Issue of Indians working in Russian Army raised

According to news agency PTI, sources have said that the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs held its meeting recently. During this, many agendas were discussed, in which this issue also came up for discussion. Sources said MPs expressed concern over the issue. During the meeting, a veteran MP also mentioned some Indians who came to Russia in the name of employment and how they were forced to work for the Russian army in the war against Ukraine and were put on the battlefield.

The government told Parliament in August that at least eight Indians were killed in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The government had said that it had taken up the matter with Russia for the release and overall security of the Indians. Sources said the agenda is also expected to include conflicts in West Asia involving terrorist groups supporting Israel and the Palestinian cause and the situation in Bangladesh. Foreign Ministry officials can respond on these matters in future meetings.
