Indians and temples have 3 times more gold than the American treasury, Jagannath was brought fraudulently from a tribal house by a general to Puri.

New Delhi: It is much earlier than the tenth century, when the Sabar tribe used to live in Koraput district in the south of Odisha. One of their kings was Vishwa Basu. All of them used to worship a stone idol in that area. This tribe associated this statue with their existence. With this power he/she did not allow anyone to conquer his/her area. At that time there was a king of Puri, who was busy expanding his/her empire. But, the biggest obstacle in his/her path was this tribe of Koraput. The king tried hard, but he/she could not conquer them. Eventually he/she sent his/her clever commander Vidyapati to Koraput, who disguised himself and started living among these tribals. In his/her book ‘Bright Orissa: Why Still Poor’, Dr. Manoranjan Mohanty, a professor at Delhi University, says that the story of Odisha is related to the taking over of Oriya culture and economy in the name of Lord Jagannath.

Lord Jagannath’s secret revealed by making the king’s daughter fall in love

According to Dr. Mohanty, Vidyapati entangled Vishwa Basu’s daughter Lalita in his/her web of love and married her. When a lot of time passed, Vidyapati told his/her wife Lalita that he/she wanted to see the God who gave strength to those tribals. Then Lalita said that the path to reach our God cannot be shown to any outsider. In such a situation, if you want to see God, you will have to be blindfolded and taken there. Vidyapati agreed.

While leaving blindfolded, he/she sprinkled mustard seeds

When he/she was being taken to the idol of the Lord blindfolded, Vidyapati kept sprinkling mustard on his/her fists to identify the path. Later, when he/she went to Puri, he/she attacked Koraput with his/her army after the rains. By that time mustard had grown, which became the mark of reaching the idol of God. When Vishwa Basu was defeated, Vidyapati brought Lord Jagannath with him/her to Puri. he/she also brought his/her wife Lalita and father-in-law with him/her. Later, around the 12th century, Anant Varman Chodaganga Dev, ruler of the Ganga dynasty, built a temple of Lord Jagannath and also built a gem store for him/her.

Why did PM Modi mention the key to Ratna Bhandar?

During the election campaign in Odisha, PM Narendra Modi raised questions on BJD’s claim of Oriya identity on the pretext of missing the key of the gem store of Jagannath Temple in Puri. In 1985, Ratna Bhandar was opened for repairing the jewelery of Lord Balabhadra. Since then this treasure of Lord Jagannath remained closed. In 2018 it was discovered that the key to the Ratna Bhandar had been lost. On PM Modi’s claim, BJD leader VK Pandian said that PM Modi is raising the key issue to divert attention from issues of public interest. he/she said that as per the order of the court, during the Rath Yatra in 2024, when there will be no crowd of devotees in the temple and God will also be on the journey, then Ratna Bhandar will be opened as per the order of the court.

Now the fight for political rights

Dr. Manoranjan Mohanty says that even today there are so many minerals in the soil of Odisha that everyone is keeping an eye on it. This is what the whole fight is about here. Everyone wants to take possession of it. The British first kept this rich area under their control, now efforts are being made to take it under their control politically.
