In the match that lasted till the last over, captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s stormy innings took the team to victory. After the victory over Pakistan, the Indian team got to hear a bad news. Fast bowler Arundhati Reddy was reprimanded on Monday for showing aggression after dismissing Pakistan’s Nida Dar.

Arundhati took three wickets in India’s six-wicket win over Pakistan on Sunday. After dismissing Dar in the 20th over of Pakistan’s innings, she could not control her emotions and gestured towards the pavilion. According to a statement issued from the ICC, “(Arundhati) Reddy has been found guilty of breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Associate Members. This relates to using ‘language, actions or gestures’ during an international match that are offensive and likely to provoke an aggressive reaction from the batsman who is out.

“Additionally, one demerit point has been added to Reddy’s disciplinary record,” the release said. This is his/her first offense in a period of 24 months.

Arundhati accepted the crime and the punishment. This allegation was leveled against him/her by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Lauren Agenbag along with third umpire Jacqueline Williams and fourth umpire Claire Polosak. Level one breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of the player’s match fee and one or two demerit points. When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, it automatically converts to suspension points and the player is banned.
