Indian government rejected the report in Canadian media, such propaganda will cause further damage to relations.


New Delhi : India has completely denied the reports in Canadian media in which PM Modi has been mentioned in the case of murder of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Indian Foreign Ministry has termed it as deliberate propaganda against India. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that we generally do not comment on media reports, but it is important to strongly reject such absurd statements from any source in the Canadian government.

Foreign Ministry’s response to the Government of Canada

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said such a propaganda campaign would prove more damaging to already strained relations. Let us tell you that the Canadian newspaper named The Globe and Mail had mentioned in media reports that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval were aware of the alleged plot related to Nijjar’s murder. And security agencies feel that PM Modi may also be aware of this.

Denied Canadian media report

In the report, these claims have been made without naming the National Security Officer of Canada. Earlier, Canada’s Deputy Foreign Minister had made similar comments on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in front of the Canadian Parliamentary Committee. India had also expressed strong objection to these, calling them absurd and baseless. Recently, the Ministry of External Affairs had lodged an official protest with the Government of Canada, terming these allegations as baseless.

Relations with Canada are continuously deteriorating

The Indian Government summoned the representative of the Canadian High Commission in Delhi and handed over a diplomatic note in this regard. In which the Government of India, on behalf of Canada’s Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison, expressed strong objection to the absurd and baseless references in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah was mentioned before the Public Safety and National Security Standing Committee on October 29.
