Indian cricketers retired in the middle of the series, one did not support the team even after the defeat

New Delhi. The third test between India and Australia was a draw. After the match, Team India’s spinner Ravi Ashwin announced his/her retirement. Ashwin retired in the middle of the series. Now he/she will not be seen even in the next two matches. Before this, two more Indian cricketers have also retired in the middle of the series. Dhoni had announced his/her retirement then. When India was behind 0-2 in the series.

Before Ravichandran Ashwin, who announced his/her retirement in the middle of the series, former Indian captain Anil Kumble and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have also done so. Dhoni retired from Test cricket in the middle of the series in Australia tour in 2014, while Kumble said goodbye to international cricket in the middle of the home series against Australia in 2008.

In this way, Ashwin and Dhoni played their last Test in Australia while Kumble announced his/her retirement after the match played in New Delhi in 2008 due to a finger injury. Dhoni announced his/her retirement in the middle of the four-Test series during the Australia tour in December 2014 when India was trailing 0–2. Even after the defeat, he/she did not support the team. his/her decision was shocking because before this he/she had not given any indication of retiring from Test cricket.

Ashwin’s decision was also surprising, that too when the team is very dependent on him/her. The five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia is currently tied at 1-1. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar had criticized Ashwin for retiring in the middle of the series. he/she had said that the pitch in the last Test was helpful for the spinners, hence Ashwin should not have retired yet.
