  • Zorawar has been developed by DRDO. The reason is 25 tons
  • Zorawar will have many weapon systems. Main gun will be available along with missile
  • There will also be drone integration in Zorawar, this will keep a constant eye on the enemy.
  • The drone’s feed will come directly to the commander in the tank.
  • The Indian Army is preparing to acquire approximately 350 light tanks.

Why do you need a light tank?

The tension with China on LAC in Eastern Ladakh taught us how much the Army needs light tanks. When China had advanced too far in the northern bank of Pangog, the Indian Army surprised China and captured the important peaks on the southern bank of Pangog. The Indian Army also delivered its T-72 and T-90 tanks here. This put China on the back foot. Then at the negotiating table it was agreed to retreat in Pangog area.

However, the tanks delivered here by the Indian Army are mainly for operational needs in plains and desert areas. They have their own shortcomings in high altitude areas. The same shortcomings of these tanks will be visible in the Rann of Kutch also. Therefore, Indian Army needs light tank Zorawar for high altitude and island territories.

Necessary for strengthening the China border

China has medium and light tanks. The way China tried to change the status quo on LAC in 2020, it can do the same at any time. Although important steps have been taken towards ending the deadlock through talks, light tanks are needed to strengthen the Indian Army on the Northern Border. If Indian Army tanks are present at a higher altitude than where the enemy is, then the enemy will be prevented from doing anything. Light tanks are essential to give the Indian Army an edge over the enemy.
