India lost the victory by losing 2 wickets in the last 2 balls, Sri Lanka spoiled the fun of Rohit-Kohli’s comeback

New Delhi. When Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returned to the team, it seemed that India would now defeat Sri Lanka in a one-sided manner but this did not happen. Sri Lankan bowlers put the Indian batsmen to a tough test and snatched away the sure victory from India. Charith Aslanka took wickets on two consecutive balls and tied the match. This was the first match of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after the T20 World Cup.

The first ODI match was played between India and Sri Lanka on Friday. Sri Lanka won the toss and batted first and scored 230 runs for 8 wickets. Opener Pathum Nissanka scored 56 runs for them. All-rounder Dunith Welalage played an unbeaten innings of 67 runs. Apart from these two, not a single Sri Lankan batsman could score more than 25 runs. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel took two wickets each. Mohammad Siraj, Shivam Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar got one wicket each.

The target of 231 runs did not seem big and the way captain Rohit Sharma started, it started looking easy for India. Rohit Sharma along with vice-captain Shubman Gill added 75 runs in 12.4 overs. Rohit completed his/her fifty in 33 balls during this period. India’s opening was broken with the dismissal of Shubman Gill. After this, there was a line of batsmen getting out. Rohit (58) also returned after Shubman. Virat Kohli (24), Shreyas Iyer (23) and Washington Sundar (5) got out in quick succession and India’s score became 132 runs for 5 wickets.

Axar Patel (33) and KL Rahul (31) took charge of the team by making a partnership of 57 runs. As soon as KL was out, there was a flurry of wickets once again. Shivam Dubey (25) hit big shots in the last overs and brought India to a score of 230. But when India needed one run to win, it lost 2 wickets and the match was tied. Captain Charith Aslanka got the match tied by dismissing Shivam Dubey and Arshdeep Singh.
