India loses number 1 crown, New Zealand has huge advantage in WTC table


New Delhi. The Indian team has suffered a huge blow due to the defeat in the Test series against New Zealand. Team India, which has been at number one for a long time, has slipped to second place in the ICC World Test Championship table. New Zealand has achieved fourth place in the WTC Points table by completing a clean sweep in the three-match series. Australia’s team has reached the first position.

In the third and last Test match played in Mumbai, India had a target of 147 runs to win. In front of the lethal bowling of Kiwi spinner Ajaz Patel, the entire Indian team collapsed for just 121 runs in the second innings. In this match, Ajaz Patel opened his/her claws in both the innings. This spinner, who took 5 wickets in the first innings, took 6 wickets in the second innings. The Australian team got the benefit of India’s defeat and reached the top in the World Test Championship points table.

After losing three consecutive Test matches against New Zealand, India’s winning percentage in the World Test Championship has increased to 58.33. The Australian team has managed to capture the title with a winning percentage of 62.50. The New Zealand team, which made a clean sweep of India, has jumped in the points table. With 54.55 win percentage she has now reached fourth position. At present, Sri Lanka is at third position and South Africa is at 5th position. Sri Lanka’s winning percentage is 55.56 while South Africa’s winning percentage is 54.17.

Indian team’s shameful defeat
New Zealand had won by 8 wickets in the first match of the three-match Test series. The Kiwi team won the second match by a huge margin of 113 runs, whereas by winning the third match by 25 runs, India made a clean sweep of the series. New Zealand has got such a victory in Test for the first time in India.
