India has made the world’s ‘most powerful’ explosive, more lethal than Brahmos, there will be a competition in the world to buy it

New Delhi: India is constantly achieving new heights in the field of defence production. The latest achievement is not only going to increase the firepower of the Indian Army but is also expected to give wings to the defence export sector. This achievement has been made in making a very lethal explosive. India has prepared an explosive called SEBEX 2 and has also successfully tested it. This much can be said about this explosive that it is not nuclear based, but its destructive capacity is very high. The assessment of how lethal an explosive is is done on the basis of TNT (trinitrotoluene). TNT is a standard according to which it is decided how much destructive capacity an explosive has. On this scale, the capacity of SEBEX 2 is a little more than double.

The most powerful explosive that is not nuclear based

The performance of India’s Cebex 2 is so high that it has become one of the world’s most powerful non-nuclear explosives. The Navy has given the OK for its use after conducting extensive tests of Cebex 2. The specialty of the explosive Cebex 2 prepared by the new method is that it is capable of revolutionizing the destructive power of bombs, artillery shells and warheads by increasing them tremendously without increasing their weight. For this reason, it can be in demand all over the world. That is, a new market is going to open for India in the field of defense production. In fact, forces around the world are engaged in making the existing weapon systems more and more lethal.

Weight is same, destructive power is new

The Navy has carried out SEBEX 2 evaluation, testing and certification under the Defence Export Promotion Scheme. Officials said, “The development of explosives will enhance the capability and efficiency of the weapons and ammunition in use.” They said that the final certification was completed last week. As mentioned above, the more TNT, the more lethal the explosive. The most powerful conventional explosive currently being used in India is being used in the warhead of the Brahmos missile. It has a TNT equivalent of about 1.50. At the same time, most explosives used in conventional warheads around the world have a TNT equivalence of 1.25-1.30.

Make in India is a hit

Sources said Economic Explosives Limited (EEL) has developed Sebex 2 based on a fast melting explosive (HMX) composition under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. This composition will “greatly enhance the destructive capability of warheads, air-dropped bombs, artillery shells and other munitions that use blast and fragmentation effects to damage targets.” EEL is also working on another variant that will have an explosive power 2.3 times that of TNT. EEL is confident that it will be ready within six months.

The Navy also certified the company’s first thermobaric explosive, which has been used to cause massive casualties on the battlefield in recent conflicts. The Citbex 1 continues to explode for a long time while generating intense heat, making it unmatched in destroying enemy bunkers, tunnels and other fortified targets.

The third explosive certified by the Navy is Simex 4, an insensitive weapon that is safer to store, transport and handle than standard explosives. The new formulation is far less likely to cause a sudden explosion and can be used in places where safety is paramount. Torpedo warheads housed in the small space of a submarine also fall into this category.
