India has enough strategic restraint… Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi said, gave update on the situation on LAC


New Delhi: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that patrolling has started in the tradition areas of Depsang and Demchok on LAC as before and the herders have also been allowed to go. In his/her annual press conference, General Dwivedi said that the situation in the Northern Border is sensitive but stable. he/she said that on issues like patrolling and the entry of herdsmen into pastures, the local corps commanders have been given powers to resolve these issues by discussing them at the local level.

When will the standoff on LAC end, says Army Chief

Regarding when the standoff on LAC will end completely, the Army Chief said that India has enough strategic patience. he/she said that the deployment of troops on LAC will remain as it is at present. But in the summer we will review the situation and then take a decision accordingly.

Pakistan is the epicenter of terrorism- Army Chief

Army Chief described Pakistan as the epicenter of terrorism. he/she said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is under control but terrorist structures are still there across the border. Terrorists are trying to supply weapons and drugs through infiltration and drones. Currently, 80 percent of the terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir are Pakistanis. he/she said that 60 percent of the terrorists killed last year were Pakistanis. In 2024, 15 thousand additional soldiers were deployed there, after which the level of violence reduced.

What did the Army Chief say about Manipur?

Regarding Manipur, General Dwivedi said that due to the coordinated efforts of the security forces and active initiative of the government, the situation there has come under control. However, incidents of violence continue from time to time. he/she said that the security forces are trying together to bring peace and also to ensure that the situation in Myanmar does not affect here, surveillance has been increased on the India-Myanmar border.

We need Kali Mata form… Army Chief said on women officers

In response to a question related to women officers in the Army, the Army Chief said that we need strong women officers, which means we need the form of Kali Mata. he/she said that there should be a gender neutral approach in everyone’s behaviour. Infrastructure is also being created in the field areas for women officers. he/she said that the physical test parameters of male and female officers should be almost the same but there may be some exceptions considering the physical condition.
