New Delhi. In T20, India started the year 2025 in a bang. The Indian team defeated England by 7 wickets in the first T20 match played in Kolkata. India equaled Pakistan’s record with this. The Surya & Company series won the next two T20 matches and equaled England’s Maharikord. India took a 1-0 lead in the series with an easy win for 3 wickets in 12.5 overs thanks to Abhishek’s half-century. Despite the half -century of captain Jose Butler (68 runs), the England team could not recover from the initial tremors and was reduced to 132 runs in 20 overs. Apart from Butler for him/her, only two other batsmen could reach double digits.

This is Team India’s seventh consecutive T20 win in Kolkata. England holds the record of winning the most T20 matches on any one venue. England have won 8 consecutive T20 matches in Cardiff from 2010 to 2021 while Pakistan had won 7 consecutive T20 matches in Karachi from 2008 to 2021. India equaled this record of Pakistan. This record was made against the full members of England and Pakistan against the teams.

Talking about the match, Abhishek and wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson (26 runs) made a fast start and added 41 runs for the first wicket. Samson hit four fours and a gunny six in 20 balls. Samson’s innings ended when he/she lifted Jofra Archer (21/2) in an attempt to pull the ball and Kriti Ekitinson caught a brilliant catch while running away from the boundary. In this fifth over, captain Suryakumar Yadav also returned to the pavilion. he/she touched the bat on Archer’s leg cutter ball and wicketkeeper Phil Sold caught a brilliant catch.

After losing two wickets in the powerplay, Abhishek batting aggressively took eight sixes and five fours in 34 balls and snatched the match from England, so India achieved the target with 43 balls remaining. Abhishek, playing at a strike rate of 200, shared an 84 -run partnership for the third wicket with Tilak Verma (19). Abhishek had all kinds of shots in the quiver, he/she flicks, uppercut and scored runs directly on the boundary. Abhishek got a life for 29 runs when Adil Rashid dripped the fast return catch. Taking advantage of this, the Indian opener introduced his/her determination and hit a four and two skyscrapers on this leg spinner consecutive balls. Abhishek completed his/her half -century in a brilliant manner, he/she hit a hook shot on Jamie overtan’s sharp Ged. India had completed 100 runs for two wickets in 10 overs, which made the target just a formality.

Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bowl and coach Gautam Gambhir decided not to include Mohammed Shami in the playing XI. India decided to include three spinners Chakraborty, Akshar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi despite falling dew. These three fast bowler Arshdeep Singh performed well, who dismissed both England openers Phil Sold (Zero) and Ben Docket (04) in consecutive overs. Thanks to this performance, Arshdeep became India’s highest wicket -taking bowler by beating Yuzvendra Chahal in T20 International.
