India alliance called a meeting on June 1, Mamata Banerjee abstained, gave this reason


New Delhi : Top leaders of the opposition Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) faction are scheduled to meet in New Delhi on June 1, the day of voting for the last phase of Lok Sabha elections. In the meeting, there will be discussion on assessing our performance during the 7-phase elections and making strategies for the future. This meeting is being called by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. The special thing is that West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has expressed her disagreement about attending this meeting of India Alliance.

What did Mamata Banerjee say?

Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee said she could not attend the meeting as voting was to be held on nine seats in West Bengal on the same day. Mamata Banerjee said that the India Alliance is holding a meeting on June 1. Mamta said, I have told them that I cannot participate in it because there are elections for 9 seats in West Bengal on the same day. Apart from this, there are elections in Punjab, Bihar and UP also on June 1. On one side there is cyclone and on the other side there is this election. he/she said that I have to do everything right now, cyclone relief is my priority.

Said to support the government

A few days ago, Mamata had said that her party would provide “external support” to the opposition alliance if it managed to form the government at the Centre. he/she said that we (TMC) will support India Bloc from outside to form the government at the Centre. We will extend our support so that in (West) Bengal, our mothers and sisters never face any problems… and those who work in the 100-day job scheme also do not face problems. On the external support comment, the TMC chief said he/she is ‘part of the India alliance’ at the national level.

What will be the agenda of the meeting?

The agenda of the meeting will include discussion on the opposition’s strategy before the announcement of election results on June 4 and assessment of their performance during the seven-phase elections. The opposition alliance of 28 parties has expressed confidence in its ability. Prevent the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) from returning to power at the Center and aim to form its own government. Previous meetings of the India Block were held in various cities including Patna, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Many proposals were made in the previous meetings. It was decided to contest the Lok Sabha elections collectively.
