Ind vs SL: Riyan Parag’s blast, taught a lesson to Sri Lankan batsman in debut match, helped India make a comeback

New Delhi. Riyan Parag has made a grand entry in ODI cricket. he/she gave India a wicket in his/her very first ODI match when India desperately needed it. With this, Riyan Parag has registered his/her name in the list of those players who have taken a wicket in their very first ODI match.

The third ODI is being played between India and Sri Lanka on Wednesday. This is a do or die match for India. The first match of the series between the two teams was tied. In the second match, Sri Lanka defeated India by 32 runs. It is important for India to win the third match to level the series. If India loses the third ODI, it will lose the series as well.

Sri Lanka won the toss and batted first in this match. Openers Avishka Fernando and Pathum Nissanka made an opening partnership of 89 runs. Axar Patel gave India its first success by dismissing Pathum Nissanka (45). Avishka Fernando, who was playing well at the other end, moved towards a century. Due to his/her excellent innings, Sri Lanka had scored 171 runs for 1 wicket at one time.

India’s problems were increasing. Then Riyan Parag, who was playing his/her first ODI match, did wonders. he/she put an end to Avishka Fernando’s innings by LBWing him/her when he/she was close to scoring a century. Avishka scored 96 runs in 102 balls.

Riyan Parag did not stop here. he/she gave India another success just after 12 runs. This time Riyan dismissed Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka (10). This brought Sri Lanka’s score to 183 runs for 3 wickets. India took control of the match as soon as Avishka Fernando and Asalanka were out. The score became 199 runs for 6 wickets. Out of these six wickets, 3 were taken by Riyan Parag. After Avishka and Asalanka, he/she also dismissed Dunith Velalage (2).
