New York: Indian captain Rohit Sharma did not seem very happy with the uneven bounce ‘drop in’ pitch of Nassau County Ground, but fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah is happy that the pitch is helping the fast bowlers ahead of the crucial T20 World Cup match against Pakistan on Sunday. In the first match against Ireland, Rohit scored 52 runs in 37 balls but while trying to play a pull shot on a short pitch ball of Gujarat Titans fast bowler Josh Little, he/she missed and the ball hit the upper part of his/her right arm. he/she also had to leave the field.

Talking about the injury, Rohit said, “It is a minor injury. I had said at the time of toss that I don’t know how the pitch will be. It is a new ground, a new venue and we wanted to see how it feels to play here. I think the pitch has not settled yet and was helping the bowlers a lot. In such a situation, it was important to stick to the basics and remember Test match bowling.

For India, Arshdeep Singh took two wickets for 35 runs in four overs while Hardik Pandya took three wickets for 27 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets for six runs in three overs and Mohammad Siraj took one wicket for 13 runs in three overs.

Rohit said, “Arshdeep is an expert in creating rhythm by swinging the ball in front of right-handed batsmen. I don’t think four spinners can be fielded on such a ground. If the conditions are favorable to fast bowlers, then only they will play. The spinners will do their job later in the tournament. We will make changes according to the needs of the team. Regarding the preparation for this match, Rohit said, “I don’t know what to expect from the pitch but we will prepare thinking that the pitch is going to remain the same. The whole team will have to perform well in that match. Hopefully, like today, the performance will be good in that match as well.
