The Indian team would definitely like to field Shami but it will all depend on his/her fitness. India did not miss this fast bowler in the first match. In this match, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh and spinner Varun Chakraborty played an important role in India’s victory by performing brilliantly.

The Eden Gardens pitch was providing enough help to fast and spin bowlers but the Chepauk Stadium pitch is likely to provide more help to the spinners. In such circumstances, it is certain that Varun, vice-captain Akshar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi will remain in the playing XI. From England’s side, experienced spinners Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone will present a challenge to the Indian batsmen.

Abhishek and Samson had given a good start to India in the first match and both of them would like to repeat the same once again. Samson, who had scored three centuries in the last six matches, could not play long innings but Abhishek played a stormy innings of 79 runs in 34 balls. Samson would like to compensate for the first match here. If the opening pair of Abhishek and Samson want to keep their claim strong for the T20 World Cup to be held in India next year, then they will have to be consistent in their performance.
